The Florida Highwaymen: An American Art Movement
Loading Map....
The Florida Highwaymen were a group of 26 African American landscape artists that were most active from the 1950s through the 1980s in Florida. Because galleries in Florida would not display the works of Black artists, the core group of 25 men and one woman developed a unique way to create and market their works. Join Carol Jonson as she discusses these artists and their works to celebrate Black History Month. Located in the reference room. (60 minutes)
